Why did everything contaminated with Sudan 1 be withdrawn from sale but tobacco hasn't been?

They have both been proven to cause cancer.

Because the government makes an absolute mint out of taxes from the sale of tobacco products.

because the sale of sudan 1 as a foodstuff is illegal and the sale of tobacco as an agent of self euthanasia isnt.

because when you buy tobacco, it's a choice to expose yourself to carcinogenic chemicals

Magicdice - and is it not a choice if you want to buy items containing Sudan 1? If a list is produced, it could then be up to the consumer whether to expose themselves to the same sort of chemicals that are already widely available in tobacco, coffee and other day-to-day foodstuffs?
