Boiled Sweets Sherbert ,Lemons Lime & Chocolate why do they go sticky

I enjoy boiled sweets ,can anyone explain why as soon as one opens the packet do they start to turn sticky.If I keep them in a sealed bag or in a tin it makes no difference sticky .
My home is ideal I would have thought for the keeping of sweets ,the only problem I normally have is stopping myself from eating them .
I would be very grateful for any comments either serious or humerous .

must be moisture in the air. unless you're vacuum packing them air will be introduced. as a guess!
its a conspiracy to make you eat them quickly and buy more
Yes, the sugar will absorb moisture from the air - keep them as dry as possible, perhaps using a sachet of silica gel in a tin with them - but don't eat it!
Solved this problem. I put my sweets into a plastic container and store them in the freezer. Last for ages and don't go sticky. You can eat them straight from the freezer and there is the added bonus (for me, anyway) of having the sweet 'crack' in your mouth - a bit like an ice cube does.
