When I flew back from Inverness to Luton airport with the cadets, we were given cartons of orange juice in our pack lunches (so were in our hand luggage), which were 100mls over whatever the limit was but no-one at the airport queried it (should they?)

I was thinking about this yesterday and ended up dreaming about trying to do the same journey, except, we all got arrested at Inverness airport for having liquids over the specified limit in our hand luggage and thus being terrorists.

Should they have taken them off us in real life?

In theory, yes, because they are over the 100mls limit - there are usually tubs by the security gates for you to put fluids into (then you can buy them again when you are the other side of security). You wouldn't be arrested but you would be asked to bin them, if you were spotted.
Yeah but...

There were 9 of us with it. I didn't even realise they had given us juice. We were just given a brown bag, packed lunch that I had to quickly shove in my bag as we were leaving.
I wouldn't worry about it - some airports are more diligent on matters like that, then others.

It wasn't until we were on the the train from london to norwich I opened it and saw that we all had juice, I checked the amount, and i remember thinking, 'crikey thats 100mls over what we were meant to have in our bags.'

The funny thing about it was that about 4 of us had our bags checked and thus scanned twice and non of us had it taken off of us. The guy that checked my bag didn't even look inside my packed lunch bag.
but, but,

I haven't said that 'b' word yet.
No...you've left it out on purpose.
So nine of you were given brown paper bags, and did not inspect the contents.

You all then checked in for a flight, and boarded the aircraft carrying these packages.

So much for airline security!

i bet you didnt even declare it when the checking in staff asked if someone had asked you to carry something for them or if you had packed your own bag.

I saw people from the other unit have a look, but as soon as my lot got them we had to stuff them in our bags and get in the taxis.
Ok
Quite a point - we are always asked the "have you packed everything yourself and are you carrying something someone else gave you" question. molly's answer would have to be no and yes.

And so would have 8 other people's replies.
Did they ask you that Molly? They always do which would have meant that you lied...
I haven't been asked the question about "did you pack it yourself/has anyone given you anything" for the last few flights so maybe they have stopped asking it to everyone.
sometimes they forget, even on international flights, ummmm.
Must be me then, they always ask us!
