Thanks for that piggynose, but I was thinking of cooking whole beetroots.
I used to, but hated that earthy smell in the kitchen during and after cooking it. Now, I wrap each one in foil and put them into the oven - no smell, and a lot less mess. They take about 2 or 3 hours so do a batch each time.

Coccinelle.Beetroots spot on , Mrs ludwigvan most impressed. Thank you.
thanx for this, as i am a beetroot fan, especially fresh. the reason why i said id chopped mine up finely was for a choc cake, which is bludy yummy.
will try them wrapped in foil and cooked in an oven one day

You're welcome ludwigvan and piggynose.
I don't chop the beetroot before cooking. I just snap off the leafy tops, wash the roots and put them in the pressure cooker for about 15 or 20 minutes.

When they come out the skin and roots just peel off easily.

I then cut them up and pickle them.
