what type of steak is it, and how are you going to cook it - because instead of marinating it (beef doesn't really take on too many flavours, except wine and garlic) you would probably do better by making a sauce or butter to put on afterwards -
and it depends what you have with it.

If your having noodles, do a chinese black bean marinade/sauce or go for something herby if its with new potatoes.
2 tbsp. grated fresh ginger root
2 tbsp. honey
1 minced garlic clove
1/3 cups sherry
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1/3 cup soy sauce

In a medium-sized bowl, mix soy sauce, garlic, sherry, ginger, honey, and vegetable oil. Before grilling steaks, be sure to marinate for at least 4 hours.
