OMG I've just tried them for the very first time and can't believe how delicious & moorish they are!
I'd heard of them but never tried them.
A health food shop has got them on half price, so I asked the assistant if she had tried them & she said yes & that they're nice.
I asked her to compare them to a peanut, to which she said "they're completely different. They're creamy".

They are creamy, buttery, crunchy, light and I can't stop eating them!

anyone care to join me?

They are also very expensive!
you really need to try Ben & Jerry's Chocolate and Macadamia ice cream.

bliss!
you want to try cracking the shells, must be the toughest shell in the world, i was living in new zealand many years ago, and we had a macademia tree in the garden, we had to put the nuts on a huge slab of concrete and drop the other slab on top to crack the shells. memories!!!
worth it though, as they were yummy, and of course fresh
I first tried these in New Zealand, absolutely gorgeous !! Asda do a really nice bag of Extra Special Macademia Orange Blossom Honey coated ones and they are to die for, (think thats what they are called) very very fattening mind :-(
Funnliy enough I walked past a packet of them in Tescos yesterday. There were over a fiver a pack but looked like they'd taste exactly how you described!

I may induldge.

From the Vegetarian Society:
Macadamia Nuts

A native of NE Australia now also grown commercially in Hawaii. Notoriously difficult to extract from their shells, they are expensive but have a delicious creamy flavour and crunchy texture. Low in carbohydrate, but quite high in fat, 100g Macadamia nuts contain 7g protein and 40mg calcium.

One warning - they are allegedly toxic to dogs! (Wikipedia)
I buy them from Tesco at £1-99 always treat myself once a week but these are 'smoked' & I like to sprinkle a little salt on too. Even when I was on my diet I had a pack per week, can't resist. Yummy.

Jem.
