I had roasted chestnuts tonight

from the Christmas market! Tasted something like the texture of a sweet baked potato, has anyone tasted them?

I love hot roasted chestnuts......when I was little my dad used to roast them on a shovel over the fire. When I worked in London 20 years ago there were stalls in Oxford Street selling them to the Xmas shoppers but they didn't taste the same.....

Always loved 'em dipped in a little salt - delicious. The old hearth rug used to bear witness to a wonderful log fire and roasted chestnuts. You have reminded me of Johnny Morris aka The Hot Chestnut Man!

Great cooked in the microwave!! bits of shell and conker splattered all over the inside.

Watch out for any with little holes in them thay contain maggots not nice unless you like maggots of course .

Forgot to say Sachs that you should always cut the very tip off the end (sharp end that is) to avoid them exploding all over the place - makes them easier to peel after roasting too.
