I always add some lightly crushed cardomon pods, some cloves, a star anisse and a handful of cumin seeds. I always count how many cloves and cardomon i put in so i can take them out at the end as im not a lover of biting into one of those green seeds.
You could also try using coconut milk instead of water or mix it with water !!!
I always put a tiny pat of butter in and then stir half a teaspoon of turmeric in....lovely.
Once you've finished boiling white rice add some grated creamed coconut.
i've still got images of vibra boiling in chicken stock........

But that's how i do my rice its very nice - not by boiling vibra obviously as that probably wouldn't taste so good!
Sweet or savoury?

For a change boil your rice in sugar water with a few drops of vanilla essence, let it get cold pile in glass bowls with crushed strawberries and a dollup of thick cream or ice cream. Lovely for a summer pudding and sooo easy. . Enjoy.

rice pudding with burnt skin - the best ;o)
You could add peas and sweetcorn to the pan a couple of mins before it is cooked.

I melt some butter, soften an onion in it, add turmeric, cumin and a chicken stock cube, and then stir in the rice and cook.

If you can find them, try adding some torn Kaffir lime leaves when boiling the rice. Really delicious.
