cleaning chanterelle mushrooms

i was able to get 1kg of these and i am wondering what is the best way to clean them before using them.....i have a fairly stiff brisseled brush that i thought would be ok....i was told that washing them was not the best way to go....

sure would appreciate any thoughts on this

You are spot on, never wash mushrooms. Either use a brush, or wipe them over with a slightly damp cloth.

I always wash them, don't care if it affects the taste, couldn't bear the thought of eating mud and manure. But yes as Kira say's they should be wiped with a damp cloth.
