Slow Cooker - 20 hours cooking?

If I switch my slow cooker on a low setting tonight when I'm going to bed (about 10 p.m.), will it be OK to stay like that for my dinner tomorrow night (about 6 p.m.). It's stewing steak and veg I'll be bunging in.

I'm a nightmare in the morning as it is, I highly doubt I'll remember to switch it on before I leave for work, hence my idea to do it as I'm going to bed the night before.

Thanks
:o)

If you don't mind the veg all dissolved into mush then go for it.

I would tun it on tomorrow morning.
Put it on in the morning unless you want
soup for dinner ....
Have everything prepared tonight & put it in the slow cooker first thing xxx
Or, put it on tonight as you wanted & remember to switch it off before you go to work!
Do you have a cup of tea in the morning? Prepare everything tonight and then put it next to the milk in the fridge (I know they're not supposed to be on the same shelf but I am sure you will survive). I have to do this to remember things all the time.

OK, can someone call me in the morning to remind me to switch it on, please? LOL

I'm terrible in the mornings, I'd forget my packed lunch if I didn't hang it on the front door handle at night (in a bag, obviously LOL).
Write yourself a big note and stick it on the front door - then you will be reminded to take two seconds to turn it on!
Have you considered a timer switch?

obviously that may not help tonight unless you have one to hand... but for the future.

I'm going to put the (empty) slow cooker in the middle of my bedroom floor so I'm tripping over it in the morning as a reminder to chuck everything in.

No Nats, I don't have a drink until I'm in the office.

Chuck, there was one left in the house by the previous owner and I have absolutely no idea how to use it LOL.
*eyeroll"

;o)
Did you remember?
Question Author
Yes :o)

I prepared everything and it's gently bubbling away right now, I was even left with time to organise my packed lunch (I was too tired to do it last night) and I put a load of washing in the machine and set it to start at 3pm, so it's just finishing it's final spin when I get home.

I can assure you I'm not normally that organised in the morning and will probably be a long time before I am again LOL.
Well done and bet your sandwiches will taste soo much better for not being draped over a door handle all night ;o)

Have a good day.

LOL. You too :o)
I;m a slow cooker virgin and got one for xmas I;m yet to use it. What should I do? and does it hurt? lol
Question Author
Sorry 4get, I didn't see you there :o)

Well, there's heaps and heaps of stuff you can do, google crock pot or slow cooker recipes for ideas.

This morning, I just bunged 1lb of stewing steak in along with a load of frozen veg, made up some gravy and switched it on to a low heat. It will be done when I get home, the meat tender, the flavour of the veg fused in the thickened gravy.
ah so you can use frozen veg because I tend to buy that instead of fresh as only me and my bloke so fresh doesnt last too long. I have looked at some recipes but all seem so complicated with herbs and spices I would never buy or cornflour etc. Maybe I will just have to experiment
Question Author
Yes, I have the same problem with fresh veg, frozen veg is fine :o)

I have a slow cooker cookbook at home, I'm sure there's recipes that don't require herbs, I'll have a look tonight and let you know x
I got a slow cooker for Xmas too and did my first meal on sunday which was a great success - it was chicken with tarragon and lemon gravy. I browned a chicken in a pan, then put it in the slow cooker and covered with lemon juice, lemon zest and tarragon and ooked on low for 4 hours, it was delicious. Tomorrow I am attempting spag bol; i usually do it from scratch in a pan anyway so will be interesting to see how it turns out.

4get, do you not like herbs or you have never cooked with them? I have a box of cornflour that has probably gone out of date by now I have had it so long but I still use it, it's handy to have in the cupboard.

Mmmm, the mince in your spag bol will be so tender. Can I come round for dinner, please? x
