nougat?

ive just bought a bar of this and when i told my husband he said its not nougat( newgar) its pronounced nugget, how do you pronounce it?

I've always pronounced it noo-gar...... but then I am British ! (I believe it's from the French for nuts). The Americans I have known pronounced it "noo-get" or "nugget".

I think it's actually from the Latin for nuts. I only know how to pronounce it in French,obviously, and I'm glad I'm not the only one who has a problem with it! lol

Nugget! I always thought "noo-gah" was just pretentious. Might well be correct though. Ah well, I am sticking with nugget! It's much more of a "get your teeth in" pronunciation.

I like it if there are no nuts in it, as I can't stand nuts.
