I have a new fan assisted oven and I find that its really difficult to cook things that need a really high temprature oil. Like for instance roast potatoes and yorkie puds. It might sound daft but its as if the fan cools it down!! Has anyone else found this? Its really annoying...my roasters used to be legendary!!

Depends on the oven, the maximum temperature can vary from manufacturer and model to model. Try using the pyroltic cycle (if it has one), that'll get your roasters nice and crispy!
We're looking at getting a new kitchen but the more I think about it the less I want an electric fan assisted oven! I have a gas oven which I'm very happy with, I can cook things at different temperatures (hotter at the top of the oven, cooler at the bottom), and I've even cooked exactly the same meal in my oven and in my Mother-in-laws electric fan assisted oven, but the one out of my oven tasted nicer (just as the Father-in-law)!
the father-in-law tasted nicer???????????
I find that my fan oven cooks things quicker so I just cut down the cooking time by 5-10 mins. I can't say I've ever had a problem with roasties or yorkshire puds.
You may have a problem with your oven. Fan ovens always require a lower cooking temperature as the air circulates the heat better. I have always used a fan oven for cooking and my yorkshires and roasters are always perfect. The fan can't possibly be cooling it down as the thermostat sets the temperature and the fan just circulates the air.
Try using (draws deep breath) goose fat or similar. It makes better roast potatoes anyway.
Might be worth getting an oven thermometer and testing top vs bottom, as well as if it's matching the temperature the dial states
also try not to open the oven door too much as this will affect the temperature quite a lot
