Can anyone remember some sweets in the late 70s, maybe the early 80's - You bought it in a plastic packet & it was dark red/brown in colour and looked like loose tobacco - but it had the most delish taste?

I dont think you can get it now, but i would love to know what it was called if anyone can remember TIA

I thought it was just called "sweet tobacco". It was about the same era as spanish wood and tiger nuts.
you can buy it from www.keepitsweet.co.uk
Spanish Gold Sweet Tobacco.
I remember it too! It was called Spanish Tobacco as indianwells remembers.
I am sure it was fine strips of coconut covered in a dark flavoured sugar.
Spanish Gold
Sweet tobacco - there's an old fashioned style sweet shop in Lancaster that sells it.
