Heya! I've always been a realllllly big fan of banana/banana and chocolate loaf (cake) but find it quite hard to find it lately. I was wondering if anyone had any SIMPLE and CHEAP recipes which i could try. Nothing to fussy as i'm not the greatest cook, but i'd love to have a hot loaf mmmm.

Chocolate and Banana Loaf

1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 cup mashed ripe bananas
1/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup baking cocoa
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Metric:
115 g butter or margarine, softened
200 g sugar
2 eggs
225 g mashed ripe bananas
60 ml milk
5 ml vanilla extract
250 g all-purpose flour
20 g baking cocoa
5 g baking soda
6 g salt
70 g chopped nuts (optional)

In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar.

Add eggs, bananas, milk and vanilla.

Combine the flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt; add to the banana mixture and mix just until combined.

Fold in nuts if desired.

Transfer to a greased 9-in. x 5-in. x 3-in. loaf pan.

Bake at 350 degrees F for 60-65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.

Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pan to a wire rack.

Notes:
Keep an eye on it while it cooks, some ovens bake hotter than others - you don't want it to dry out.
You can substitute chocolate chips for the nuts - or just add some.
You can add more cocoa if you want a more chocolatey taste.
4 oz. butter ( softened )
4 oz. sugar
2 eggs
3 bananas nice and ripe, not at all green ( mashed )
16 oz. flour
1 teaspoon baking soda

Heat oven to 180C. Mix together all the ingredients - (seive the dry ones) into a bowl. Pour into loaf tin. Bake for 60 mins and cool 10 mins before turning out and cooling.

Add chopped nuts, chocolate bits, some cinnamon or allspice, a touch of ginger - if you want to fancy it up a bit.

Easy tea loaf to make - no mysteries....
