I saw it for sale in Tescos the other day - but I have stopped buying it as it is now produced in Holland.
Do you stop buying anything that is not produced in this country?
The HP sauce plant in Birmingham was closed in March and manufacture od Daddies, HP Sauce and some supermaket brands were all transferred to a Heinz factory in Holland. The unions at the plant pledged to boycott Heinz products. If you live near to the Midlands, the lack opf Daddies in Tesco's may be due to the boycott, or it may be just supply problems from the continent.
Indianwells - when corporate greed forces the closure of an historic factory producing a very English product with the loss of 125 jobs - yes I will stop buying it.
I wasn't having a go Maxi, I just find it odd that someone would stop buying a product they enjoy on the basis of opposing moral greed. I guess you must have more principles than me!

thanks for your replies, Sainsburys still have it in at the moment - I will have to stock up!
Thank God it's still around! Stuff yer feller, I nearly had a heart attack there!! Making people thing it wasn't available any more...........

You may want to stock up too then Nicecupof tea as the Sainsbury's I went to only had 3 bottles left on the shelf and I might go back and get the rest today!
I have written to all the major supermarkets, so far the replies I have say that they have 'a supply problem' with the product. Heinz say that they supply the retailers and that it is the retailers own decision as to where these are stocked. But if the supermarkets can't get the supply...... Maybe if more of us badger Heinz we will get a satisfactory result.
I'm a woman on a mission. Lol.
Have to agree with maxi, i wont buy HP sauce either on principle, as it was always promoted as the "great british sauce", and stiil reluctant to buy corned beef from argentina for some strange reason, cant remember why? can anyone enlighten me!!!
puddicat

I too still haven't got over that 'goal' when Maradona handled the ball into the net.
er...

the Falklands War Puddicat?
nothing to do with maradonna or falklands war re corned beef from argentina--in the late 50's or early 60's there was a food scare over contaminated corned beef imported from argentina hence we were advised not to buy it and imports were stopped for a time--cheers
What answer did Tescos give for it being discontinued? I will write and ask. As for it being made in Holland, that's where most of the UK's chicken comes from and we don't seem to boycott that or French apples.... I could name many more similar products. Many of my friends use Daddies Sauce (HP Sauce is no substitute) so this could turn into a big issue.

Hi Mrshopaholic wasn't gvien a reason why it was being discontinued I'm afraid but it still isn't in stock in my local Tesco (Huntingdon) I keep meaning to check Sainsburys but forgot when I am in there. If you write to Tesco and get a reply please let us know their reasons.

Thanks
As promised I E-Mailed Tesco Customer Services and after a request for the barcode (because they had no record of the item!), I managed to provide it and this was their response:

"Please note that the Daddies Brown Sauce is temporarily out of stock in our stores as the branded manufacturers are in the process of changing the packaging or the amount in bottles.
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide a time frame when this product will be back to the stores."
This implies that it will return but I will monitor closely!!!

Thanks mrshopaholic. Will wait and see what happens, hopefully it will be back on the shelves soon!
I've been meaning to post a question about Daddies sauce for ages, and have just spotted your question. I tried everywhere and I've managed to stock up from a shop called Heron's . I'm in Liverpool - I don't know if the chain is local or national.

I couldn't live without my Daddies Brown Sauce!

My husband loves Daddies sauce so I was on a mission to make sure he doesn't run out completely when none of my local supermarkets were stocking it any more. These are Sainsburys, Asda and Morrisons. I started looking around in the small 'corner' shops and managed to find a very small bottle in one shop. I explained my predicament to the lady owner and she agreed to try and get some in for me. I went back the following week but she'd had no luck and she tried twice more for me. I went in yesterday and she laughed when she saw me as the wholesalers had sent her a 4 Litre catering bottle of the stuff. She explained that if I didn't want it she could send it back but I had to get it as my husband really does love the stuff and no other sauce will do for him. I have arranged with the shop that when this one runs out I'll go back and she'll order me another one. How fab is that! Perhaps if enough of us do this they'll realise there is still a demand and come to their senses.
By going to Heron stores, a couple of times I now have 6 x 850g bottles. But, there were only three bottles left on the shelf.

Lets hope some stock arrives soon.
