White streaks after using dishwasher

Hi, I have a dishwasher for the very first time and have so far used it twice - only it is leaving white streaks over everything. I did make a slight faux par and put rinse aid in the machine even though the tablets say they have rinse aid in them. Is this the problem? Or is it to do with salt? Thanks

I would say its a problem with the machine not rinsing properly!!, Ive used 3 different machines over the last few years and never experienced any white streaks!!

I don't think an extra bit of rinse aid would cause it!!

If you're in a hard water area and you didn't use salt that might be the problem.
(By the way it's faux pas not faux par just thought I'd mention it!!)

Damn it! I did know that - just didn't proof read my question - sorry! I have put salt in the dishwasher - maybe I should try and change the setting. Thanks.
