I think that might be the tang left over from the wine nita lol
That reminds me of drinking wine after eating an apple..not pleasant!

I seem to remember horlicks tablets ~ not seen any recently although I haven't actually looked ;o)
Don't really know whether Horlicks tasted different in the 1970s...and don't drink wine so it's impossible for me to comment.

But I have found this:

Nita Edwards, these lesser beings obviously mocketh thee!.
I remember Horlicks, Ovaltine, Tate & Lyle syrop, Wall's icecream, and unused bomb-shelters in school yards, but I'm probably older than you........Goodnight
I must add that those instant milky drinks aren't a patch on the original ones ~ horlicks and ovaltine have to be made properly with hot milk :o)
just to add to what pippa said, full fat milk is best! semi skimmed or even that watery stuff they call skimmed milk just doesnt make it taste right.
Oh yes ~ thanks for that, red.

So true!

It`s not the wine, it tastes the same if I don`t drink. Stewey, I remember it all well, and food rationing!!!
