They both contain calories if that is what you mean.
Question Author
I was just wondering because I use quite a lot when I'm thickening gravy... and with self-raising flour, I used about 3 heaped tbs for my sun-dried tomato pancakes.
Both types of flour are practically pure carbohydrate (both about 90%) and therefore have almost the same calorie content as each other, weight for weight. Cornflour has 360 Calories per 100 g, self raising flour, 354, according to calorie-count.com. Practically all food is "fattening", in the sense that it yields energy when digested, it just depends how much you consume.
