Foie gras, fois gras... whatever the spelling... I have enjoyed this p�t� for a long time, but exactly how does one force feed a goose?
I know they boil the grain... but how is the goose force fed? Shoved down it's neck? Or is there just so much food that the goose doesn't want to stop eating?

The goose or duck is placed in a box with an opening large enough for the creatures head and neck tb extracted through. The feeder grabs the animal by its upper neck and forces a specially built funnel down the throat far enough for the end to be in the stomach and forces the feed into the bird by pouring the semi-liquid into the funnel...

What you described about being force fed. Yes, the grain is shoved down the goose's neck. The goose is literally forced to swallow what it is given. Not a pretty scene to watch.

Yes it does ... it's a great starter, especially followed by veal ...

mmmmmmmm .... I'm hungry now, dammit ....

Veal is very tasty, but I am partcial to a a nice piece of ostrich. Very much like veal; it is full of trong flavour, red meat and incredibly succulent and tender.
