Where in the UK can I buy (ground) Marcona Almonds, I am in Southampton but can buy over the internet also. Also, what is a 'scant' cup of flour?

I'm not sure where you can buy ground Marcona Almonds but scant means that its not quite full.
You can buy Marcona Almonds in Sainsbury's. You can usually find them in the cake ingredients section, marketed under the Taste The Difference range (i.e. more expensive!) You can only buy them whole, but it's an easy job to chop or grind them yourself - but, having used them myself, I'm not sure they're worth the extra money, especially as you are going to use them ground anyway. What are you making? Oh, and scant means 'just under' or 'not quite full' in measurement terms.

I'm making Flan de Almendras, typically Spanish, so hence the Marcona Almonds
Online here or try a Waitrose or better that, a decent deli should stock them near you. Grind them at home - the flavour is in the oils of the nut and will be weaker if you buy them ready ground.

Scant = almost...
The absolute best way to enjoy Marcona almonds is roasted and munched with a bucket of sherry. I would say you could use the regular almonds - bump up the flavour with one drop of almond essence if you like - as they are to be part of the dessert. You can substitute with ground hazelnut as an alternative if you fancy a variation.

Pass it round when you're done . . .
Flan de Almendras, yum. I made Torta di Santiago (much the same, but with quince paste under the almond mixture) when I used Marcona almonds, but it really wasn't any different in taste than when I used ordinary ones. Depends if you're making it for anyone who you think might just be able to tell the difference! Marconas ARE really nice (and worth using) if you roast them lightly and sprinkle over a little salt. Serve with Fino before dinner. Mmmmm!
