Likely to be Durian bread.

Often voted as the most awful thing you can ever smell and also actually called stinkfruit - durian fruit are an acquired taste to put it nicely - very pungent, sour tasting. Large spikey fruit that can be added to various other 'things' including to make bread mix. This tempers the strong smell. Also called King of Fruits, but mostly by people who have never been on the same continent whne one is opened...a typical description is '.."... its odor is best described as pig-shyt, turpentine and onions, garnished with a gym sock." Yum!

Once its in your nose it stays for ever......if you want to try it, look for durian flavour cookies, chips, and the fruit itself when in season at your local asian supermarket - but you may be banned from the shop if you open it in there...

Thanks nickmo, I did smell durian while I was out there, and I agree it is vile, I can't believe something so horrible can make such a nice smelling bread, but the names are so close I suppose it must be that.cheers
