I know it isn't a drink , but did you see that news story the other day. It was about a couple celebrating their Golden Wedding and opening and eating a canned Chicken they got for their wedding and the're still ok.

It also said other canned foods and drinks from ship wrecks etc were "still biologicly safe to consume " after a hundred years or so......

the ones with sweetener in taste terrible after a while as the sweetener degrades...don't think it makes them any more harmful though. Things like beer can continue to ferment and definitely give you a gyppy tum. Ordinary sweet fizzy ones can ferment too, but if that happenend, they would probably explode, so no fear of you getting to drink them.

Similar applies to bottled soft drinks, a bit more so as they are less airtight than cans.

I probably wouldn't exceed the best before as I am not addicted enough to having the runs to want to risk it!

Thanks for your input. Yes, I was pretty amazed about that 50 year old chicken. That guy sure was brave to eat it. I think I will avoid the old soft drinks though. I also have beer a few years old in bottles, but I guess they have an expiration date for a reason, so I won't gamble with them either.
