I make sultana cake twice a week and soak the sultanas in brandy or whisky for 24 hours or so before baking.

Would it be okay to soak large quantities in a jar and keep for longer?  Commonsense tells me it would but I want to be sure.  I don't want to poison my oldsters, or waste good brandy

I don't see why not, it's no different to the method used for sloe gin, blackberry brandy, rumtopf etc which lasts for ages. The alcohol preserves them.

why not.....two jars and make the comparison!
