Waitrose do a selection of different breads, you will probably find them there, or small deli's will do it.
I've sen pannini bread in a bigger branch of Tesco's.
You can do what our local sarnie bar does and use those part baked baguettes in the pannini maker. Most supermarkets stock them but the M&S ones (packs of 3) are the nicest.

I've found the best results come from using ciabatta rolls rather than pannini sticks. Asda, Tescos and Somerfield all stock them.

Quick recipe: squirt of tom puree, sprinkle of mixed herbs, smoked ham and emmantaal cheese. Yum!

Sainsburys do them too in packs of 2.
