You know what I mean - a breast and wing on the bone, skin on. I find these very useful and am having to chop up chickens myself as I can't get to my butcher at the moment. None of the supermarkets sell them but they were very popular years ago. Chopping them isn't a real problem but I'd rather buy the breasts and not have to use the legs.
Do chip shops still sell chicken like this?

I still see leg and thigh quarters, but I've not seen breast and wing in a long time. It used to be my preference, until I discovered thighs were moister and have more flavour.
^^ How did that get past the AB censor?☺
Why??
Butchers would be your best bet, not seen them sold in Supermarkets for a while.

I buy thighs for long cooking and skinless breasts for any quick dishes.

It's personal preference, isn't it, pasta? I'm more of a breast man

I'm hoping to get back to my butchers in a couple of weeks or so, mamya :)
If you get them from a specialist butcher, or a supermarket with one, they would probably quarter a bird for you. Personally I prefer thighs. Far cheaper than breasts and once cooked, easy to debone to make one of my chicken and bacon pies :-P
Sorry, I didn't see Mamya's post saying much the same.
Barry, my 'why' was directed at jackdaw. I wouldn't question your preferences ;)
As a vegetarian, I find it all rather distasteful. You are talking about dismembered animals, and discussing which bits you prefer. These animals were bred to be fodder for humans, and not many humans feel any respect or empathy for these creatures (forgive the word, but it might appeal to christians who believe that god created them). Chickens are treated by those who breed and 'care' for them as 'product' to be kicked around or stamped on.
End of rant.
Athiest: to avoid any distress in the future it may be prudent to avoid reading posts about dismembered avians.
APG; I presume the constant misspelling of 'Atheist' is not meant to be an insult! :-)
You are quite right, I should avoid butting into conversations about such things - it doesn't cause me personal distress (I don't have my limbs torn off and fought over by animals) but it isn't too polite to remind people about uncomfortable thoughts.
Sorry. Live and let live.
// APG; I presume the constant misspelling of 'Atheist' is not meant to be an insult! :-)//

of course not -you know my first language is French and I'm a terrible speller even in my langue maternelle, just not pedantic enough to correct it lol!

Merci APG. It's not you who is accused of constant misspelling, it's many others. I presume it is finger slips or perhaps some kind of autocorrect. Ton longue maternelle es ampecab! Bon fingour nee!! Bisou! X
And the poor old farmer who bred the three legged chicken, what would he do if he ever caught one?

Atheist, my daughter is a vegan but is still happy to cook meat for guests. No lectures or rants served with it, either. I'll think of you when I next eat chitterlings.
