Have heard that the two people rescued from local harbour have died. With conditions as they were not a place to walk in daylight and certainly not after dark. I heard the helicopter go over and then not return until much later so knew there was a problem.

Why do folk feel it necessary to risk so much in dangerous conditions?

Thank you Mamy. Must have been a very difficult rescue as it is very rocky around there and very narrow access between rocks, cliffs and harbour.
Although Sad for the loss of life it doe make one wonder is it selfishness or sheer stupidity.

I know there used to be a group of inshore fishermen used to get down there for chats, etc., but now they have died or are retired and they used to warn people about dangers but they would not have been there at that time of night in winter.
I guess you don’t think you’re going to die.

I think people just under-estimate how powerful the sea can be?
either they were committing suicide or, more likely, they didn't know the dangers. Maybe they'd been drinking, but even if not it isn't always possible to assess risk properly after dark, or even to be aware that there's a risk to assess. People make mistakes.
I saw a man walk out to sea at the back of my house. I was about to call the Coastguard when they zoomed in and rescued him.
Some people do things (i) because (i) it's dangerous
Some people do things (i)because(i) it's dangerous
Why can I not italicize a word on here anymore?
Its the square brackets []
Drink or drugs may have been involved but a 40yr bloke and 20yr woman... if it had been teens I'd have understood better.

jno the bit of the wall you walk on and the walls are granite and slippery when wet. There are some railings on one arm of the wall but not the other. Feel very sorry for their families.
God that's sad...and so pointless.
Just awful. Their poor families.
