"When cooked, take the vegetables and a drop of the liquid and blitz with blender." You should have added, at that stage "then throw the pig's feet into the dustbin". Pigs' "trotters" are an abomination and are glorified by butchers who wish to claim that the only part of a pig not used is the squeak! :-)

yes then add the liquid. I would boil the trotters in a large pan of salted water for 10 minutes before draining rinsing then adding them to the vegetables in the slow cooker.

May I have your recipe please. I love pigs trotters though I must say the best I tasted where roasted with loads of Garlic with a breadcrumb crust in a typical estaminet in Verdun.
I do have a slow cooker. TIA
I have seen many recipes showing how the Irish cook theirs.

Hi there retrocop,I have put leek cut in half, two large carrots halved, onion halved, whole red pepper in large pieces and two pigs feet,a vegetable stock cube and several cloves of garlic( according to taste and fill half way with water.Season .
When cooked, take the vegetables and a drop of the liquid and blitz with blender.Amount of water according to how thick you like it.Then pour back over the feet.Of course there are many ways to ring the changes,I have done them with chorizo and tomato as well.I serve with rice but .again,as you like it.

Pigs trotters need to be boiled before using. You either boil them vigorously in stock, then discard stock, coat trotters in egg & crumbs and bake, or pre boil them before putting in a slow cooker. Putting them in a slow cooker raw is asking for trouble.
I've only had them once, bullied into trying them as a 'delicacy' in France, they are blinking awful.

Thank you very much for your time and Aunt Lydia.

How hurtful.Think of all those legless porkers rolling around knowing the rosbifs do not appreciate their sacrifice.!!!
Try a little Entente Cordiale instead. :-)
I love trotters!!!!
I always keep loads of chorizo in the freezer. That is an interesting twist. Thank you.
Entente cordiale -great with gin ;-)
Seriously, love frogs legs, won't try snails, sweetbreads with garlic butter - formidable!
Trotters? nah....They smell of farmyard, have loads of microbes between the toes that's why they need boiling. They are great for making jellied stock though.
Vive la differance!

Well good for you for looking after your friend who is currently incapacitated and husband
but
Aunt Lydia would say with friends like you .Who needs enemies. :-)
A chap I knew many years ago used to take a couple of cooked pigs trotters wrapped in brown paper into the cinema, watching the film and chewing away happily on them. He saw nothing strange in such eccentricity.
Nothing surprises me when it comes to the things people do in the cinema (that's why I haven't been to one since 1979).
The first and only time I've seen pigs trotters was as a child, they were in a pan on my nan's stove. I genuinely thought she'd killed our boxer dog :-)
Add to pigs' trotters cow heels, boiled tripe and brawn. God, what I had to endure in the days of meat rationing.
Haven't had them for years and years - love them.
My parents used to buy them from THE black pudding shop in Bury along with cow heel, tripe, etc.
My dad used to eat pickled pigs feet...a southern USA delicacy. I liked them...I think.
As I recall, I had them once. Seemed a lot of work to get next to no meat.
My nana used to make the most gorgeous Brawn and as a child loved it with toast. Then I saw one day how it started out, she had half a pig's head and two trotters bubbling away in a large pan. As I recall we used to eat quite a bit of offal as a child including tripe which I loved with salt & vinegar. To me pigs trotters have a farmyard taste and next to no meat. They are good for making jellied stock though.
