What's the most interesting or complicated or scrumptious thing you've made recently?
I confess, much as I do love cooking (and eating) good food, I've not been very adventurous lately for one reason or another. I really need to make a batch of the famous ragu but can't be arrised at the mo.
I have some Swedish meatballs in the freezer so may make a sauce to have with them this week, don't hold your breath though.

//I like earls grey and bergamot as it’s a sophisticated drink that tantalises the taste buds with various notes and dimensions rather like myself.\\

LOL! Says it all really.
I don't like flavoured teas, but don't feel the need to knock those who do.
“LOL! Says it all really.”

Not really but anything that makes someone giggle instead of launching into a mass hysterical bout of outrage at a food based thread has to be a good thing ;)
Oops. I seem to have awakened Reverend Mother.
For “outrage” swap with the newly coined term “foodrage”
Give her a Gin and she may nod off.
I don't think I'd class as a foodie, but I like to try new ideas sometimes. Weather has been so horrible last few days that yesterday I remembered a beef, onion, carrot and fresh ginger stew from the old days when we also used to get snowed in and frozen. Suppose that's a bit different - recommended for cold days by me and Mr. J2.

Today I pretended a couple of pork chops were cuts off a joint and did the full roast veggies with them. I've probably been slow off the mark, but it's only in the last hear or so that I realised how good roast onions and cauli were. Does that make me a foodie?
PS I do a really great 'toad-in-the-hole'. :) (May have gone off wherever the thread got to.)
Roast onions are delicious, so sweet.
"poncy" tea with bergamot dates from the 1820s...that which is Earl Grey dates from the 1880s.
Bergamot was added to cheaper teas to imitate better "poncy" Chinese teas.
Now you know something new, Jack.
I know nothing new. Scented teas are crap, period.

That's ^^^ a bit poncy... ;-))

I suppose what I mean as a 'foodie' is someone who is interested in cooking, likes trying different things, a bit adventurous. It doesn't preclude those who aren't though, it's just nice to hear others ideas and experiences with food.
The taste of things is very subjective isn't it, like art. I know what I like but I enjoy hearing what others like too, even if I don't agree.
I love roast onions too, have you tried them microwaved? They're also very nice, and quick.
Well...that tea is older than you are Jack.
Hard to imagine...
I can't be bothered to cook well for OH and me, but my job is cooking for staff at our place of work, and I like to give them something decent. I'm always on the look out for interesting recipes. Preferably ones with not too much preparation or loads of ingredients.
I almost always get compliments when I cook any of Jamie Oliver's recipes, especially his fish pie.

Ethandron, how do you do your microwaved roast onions?
Who wants to make tomato sauce when bottles of Heinz are freely available?

Peel and halve or quarter the onions, put in a lidded dish with a small amount of water and bung them in the micro. I couldn't tell you for how long as I just do them till they're done, probably a couple of minutes, more if they need it. They just go very soft and sweet.
I just looked up Jamie's fish pie recipe, it does sound good :) I think if I was cooking for others all day I wouldn't be bothered when I got home either.
