I have just spent a good half hour sorting out my five make-up bags and two travel bags.

I have managed to decant the five make up bags into three and the travel bags into one.

I now have a basket full of old, half used, out of date make up containers and jars of various potions

Did I really wear a purple eyeliner, bright blue and bright purple mascara, deep red lipstick and green eye shadow?
(I don't mean all at once)

Any mistakes in your make -up bags?

Loads normally foundation as I struggle to find one that matches - I then get talked into buying more which I do try it once hate it and go back to just wearing powder!
Gave up buying red lipstick after I found a deep red gloss that I love.

Yes, I agree, Islay. Foundation is a problem. I usually just wear a tinted moisturiser as I find most foundations too cakey.
Boots No.7 do a nice light cover one Tilly.

Do they, Patsy? What's it called, I'll have a look on the website.
Purple eyeliner ?....with my complexion !

What colour do you use then, Mikey?
I have 3 wicker baskets for 'not every day' make-up. 1 for foundation, 1 for eyes and 1 for lips. Foundation and lipstick are definitely my biggest collection of mistakes. Don't know why as I always return to my fave Max Factor foundation and Mac lipstick.

So you have found one foundation that suits you, Prudie. That's good.
I don't wear foundation any more Tilly, a cream blush in Winter, powder blush in Summer, eyeliner, mascara, eyebrow pencil ... and lip stain. I get rid of anything I haven't used for a bit.
Depends on the season Tilly !

I used to work for an employer, a few years ago, where the compulsory dress code was formal wear, but included a company tie, in a particularly bilious shade of bright green.

I steadfastly refused to wear the ghastly thing, using that complexion excuse, and it worked !

But I always stood out at Meetings !
Good for you Mikey. Our uniform is just awful.
You can get locked up for that now Mikey ;-)

Well, now that I've had a good clear out of old stuff, I am going to try to maintain a minimum make-up stash.
I don't wear make up every day, like I did when I was working but I do wear make-up if I am going somewhere.

Having said that, I wear mascara every day.
I do but colour is often a problem as my beach holidays throw a spanner in the works, factor 50, hat and sunnies on my face every day but I still tan a lot.
Stopped wearing make-up the day I retired from work.

So you can't wear purple or green, Mikey?
I used to have blue blusher and black lipstick. Long since gone now, of course.
I've never worn foundation. I don't like the idea of washing your face and spreading brown muck over it... I must have hundreds of nail varnishes in every different colour, though.
I've found as I get older less is more as they say. Matte eyeshadows, love a lip stain, natural & stays put.
