I can tell you about the white wine ('cos I bought a case of it the last time it was on offer):
I generally regard Chardonnay as a much over-rated grape, with the majority of wines made from it being only of a very mediocre quality. (There are, of course, some superb wines made from Chardonnay, such as some of those from Chablis, but they tend to be very pricey).
So I wasn't expecting much from Lidl's Veneto but I was very pleasantly surprised by it, finding it as good as some wines I've paid a tenner for elsewhere.
Don't miss it!
Other Lidl whites to watch out for during their offer periods are the Chilean Pedro Jimenez and their Exotique Cotes de Gascogne. The former is unusual in that it's a white wine made from a grape that's normally used for reds. (It's what sherry is made from). However it's surprisingly quaffable. The latter (which is what I'm drinking right now) has very strong hints of apple (suggesting to me that there might be some Colombard grapes used in its production).
