Last winter I dumped all my 'proper' candles and replaced them with battery operated ones...I know, I know, they sound really naff don't they?
They're wonderful though, look just like the real thing but don't leave a sooty residue everywhere. They're even on a timer, mine have all just lit themselves and will switch themselves off in six hours.
Highly recommended for candle enthusiasts.

Candles + Cats would result in disaster so I had considered getting the battery candles. I will mull it over.
Hi Ethan, I have the little flickering votive ones .. I've just put mine on, looks cosy.
Question Author
Wolfy, they're even made of wax, imagine a hollowed out fat candle, and the flickering flame thingy is really..er..real.
I have done the same and have those with a flickering flame and an actual wax covering. You really have to pick them up and look closely to tell they're not real. Also thoroughly recommend.
Wheee have you placed them ethan?
I have most of them on my coffee table ... and two in front of some pics x
Of course, if you don't want a bulb to emulate candle, you could always use a candle to emulate a bulb:

Or you could just say this to the whole idea of using candles anyway:

They're good too Elina, I do love the ambiance of candles in winter.
A handy upgrade for old Blue Peter advent crowns.

Fork 'andles
Mine are wax also, very realistic.
Question Author
Me, Prudie and Elina can't be wrong can we? ;)
I have three pillar types but prefer the teeny ones.
Question Author
I've got two either side of the fire, two in the conservatory and one in the dining room. All bar the dining room on are in big glass storm type glass lantern things, with pebbles in the bottom. Dining room one is in a wide shallow glass dish. Where do you put yours?
Mine are cream, orange and red, they sit together on the hearth and really cheer the room up in winter.
Question Author
Ha ha Chris, love them :)
Question Author
Bet they look lovely Prudie.
We've just had our conservatory refurbished and it now has a glass roof which reflects the flickering candle flames like a kaleidoscope.
Oh I love those storm glass lanterns. Most on my coffee table & two either side of family that are no longer here.
That sounds lovely ethan... have you noticed it's only the ladies that are in to making things look cosy ;0)
