We've recently been looking at them for child 1. It's all quite overwhelming really, that and having a child that hardly engaged at all as he had already done a 'virtual' open day. At least I haven't got to look at accommodation as well, that'd tip me over the edge.

Happy days.

It is a while since my 'little brother' was at uni but I am sure that he listed all the things that he considered to be important - pub, swimming pool, gym etc. He stayed in student accommodation on campus - it looked dire.

I can't remember when that was but he has been married for about 20 years.

if child no 1 is going to uni

I think you should let him do the hiking

as evry parent knows ( hur hur hur ) the kidz have to make their own mistakes
which they never learn from
and make over and over again
A colleague said of his brothers maths degree

the only thing I remember is the amount of time he spent looking at the ceiling thro the bottom of a bottle ....
I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to universities, but IMO if it's not in the Russel Group it isn't a proper university.
I think you have done very well to get him to go to one

Russell or not - it makes a difference ....

Nah, I wanted to go with him. It's lovely walking round the uni and talking to the staff (I'm one of 'those' kinds of mum). Greenwich was particularly nice.

I never went to uni, so, it's a bit of an eye opener for me.

He won't be studying Maths, PP, that's for sure. The A level is slowly doing his head in. He'll need a certain amount for his Computer Science, but, I think he'll be glad to see the back of it.
My nephew went to Greenwich and had a good time

H ha, all the stops come out for Open day! Lots of work behind the scenes! Best wishes to your son/ daughter.
Son!

Thanks Elina.

PP, we quite liked Greenwich and I think he'll put it as one of his 5 choices. I think the real toss up will be between Queen Mary and Goldsmiths.
