I have to follow a very low fat diet, but just occasionally I really fancy a bit of toast and butter.

I can't eat regular fat as it upsets by gallbladder do you now if the Almond butter would do the same?

Thank you

I think it would be worth trying. If you are unable to tolerate it, you don't have to use it again.

Almond butter is delicious and loaded with nutrients and minerals.
Almond butter is 56% fat.

*** 56% well that's a no then!!!
Is it all fats that make you poorly?

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you I had a little nap!

Pretty much I can eat a little cheese and I can have some light light mayo and 70% fat free salad cream, but meat has to be very lean and butter is a no no.
So that includes the fats in things like avocado?
Avocado can be "only" 22% fat, and can be very buttery? Still, it's not quite what you're after, I know.
You beat me to it Ummm!

Sometimes, in a bread frying situation, mayo will do the job. Again, not the same, but I'm trying to think of a way to get you closer with what we know is "ok"
And you can buy frozen avocado form Tesco.
Vegetable fats are easier for your system to break down so some sort of 'Flora-type' spread would be preferable to butter.

I'm sure that you'll know, by now, that a 'little-bit-of-what-you-fancy' can end up causing excruciating pain.

When are you due to have your GB removed?
Question Author
No weirdly I can eat avocado.

Jack that hat - I have to lose a further 7 stone before they will consider it!! But if I save up enough for weight loss surgery they will whip it out whilst doing the weight loss op!!
How about Flora Light? It works for me and I cant even tolerate cheese!
olive oil spread ??
What percentage fat can you cope with ?

Some of these are claimed 38%

I guess it depends on how thinly you spread it too. An inch of low fat will have more than a micron of full fat.
:o(
That seems manifestly unfair.....
Mrs JtH and I have both had our GBs removed and have a good understanding of the pain of the condition and the nuisance in trying to make sure that nothing is ingested which will aggravate it.

You have my sympathies....

Apart from the mayo and salad cream I have not eaten above 5% fat because when I have its brought on another attack. Jack it's funny the consultant I saw said that he can't operate but he then turned around and said pay for weight loss surgery!
It's a shocking state of affairs.

When my GB gave up the ghost, and it needed to be removed, I was given a surgery date 13 months hence.....
I contacted the local Private hospital and the very same surgeon could take it out within a fortnight for £3500. It doesn't seem right, somehow!

I know well must go as of to the docs as still not feeling great x
