i just watched kim and aggi descale a kettle with vinegar on "how clean is your house?"  and they used white vinegar.  does it have to be white stuff or can u use the brown stuff?

I use the brown vinegar. Just make sure you boil it out a couple of times before you use it for tea/coffee.
White vinegar is generally better for cleaning purposes as it doesn't colour what you're trying to clean.
did not see this programme ..but ..what sort of ratio water to vinegar . say for a 3 litre kettle ...? help mine is minging

its equal parts water and vinegar, then stick it on to boil

isnt three litres a lot?  what the hell sized kettle do you have?!
always boil the kettle then add vinegar and leave it to stand. If you boil the kettle with the vinegar added, I found mine boiled over.
