If I bought a takeaway about 5pm and then zapped it about 7pm do you think it would be ok or will it be ruined?

I think it would be ok. I have done that before.
What is it?

I'd do it. I always have Chinese the next day.
Should be reasonably ok. Don't do it on full power though, or the rice might be like little hard bullets.
Why don't you buy it at 7pm?
I have often reheated Chinese food the following day, if it's a rice or noodle dish I tend to heat it in a wok or frying pan though.

I eat at 7 and the kids eat at 5 (they're having a chip shop tea) himself is off out so I can't go back out at 7 as I would normally (plus it's cold and it'll be dark).
;-)
Delivery?
i microwaved one for breakfast.....
It will be fine - just avoid ordering any battered balls, they don't microwave well ...
Errr - wouldn't it be simpler just to cook something from scratch for yourself at 7pm?!
To crispen up roast chicken and spare ribs, dunk in a hot chip pan

Take it out of the metal container first.

You should not put metal in a microwave.
cool it quickly in the fridge and make sure its thoroughly hot through when you've nuked it.
