Please settle an argument for me.

Mr Puss hasnt had a biscuit, cake , or anything what he calls fattening, for 2 mths now.
Instead he has taken to munch away on cashew, mixed nuts, walnuts of an evening. He hasnt lost hardly any weight yet

I say these are very fattening --do you agree?

They are pressed for their oils...says it all really.

They are really good for you in small amounts. I think it is recommended just having a small palm full and that's your lot.
Nuts are full of calories and massively fattening.
And if he's eating salted nuts that will be quite a large salt intake.
If he's replacing the other stuff like for like with nuts then he won't lose any weight. Just a small handful is ok and provides omega oils which is good.

Yes of course they are......high in fat and Calories.
Yes, they aren't called a power food for nothing as they give you an energy boost hence people undertaking expeditions and such eat them for their high calorie content:

This is a good article for amounts/ nutritional benefits of various nuts:

Weightwatchers used to equate 10 hazelnuts with one teaspoon of butter which is a shame really as I could eat them all day.

Yeee!!!! Thought I was right.
Not eating any salted nuts, and not just a small palm full.
He munches away and doesnt realise he is still eating them. lol.
He eats pears and apples too, and thinks that is a good diet, and nuts go and spoil it all.
Will he munch on popcorn?
Very healthy in moderation pusskin.
Question Author
So, very small amounts is ok, and no, he hasnt ever eaten pop corn.
I thought pop corn would have been so much more fattening.
It can be if you get the buttery, toffee ones. but plain and salted is ok. Again in moderation though.
Question Author
He eats dried mixed fruit, not mixed nuts. I got that wrong.
LOL!! Erm ... :0)
OMG..pusskin, you are going on and on about your "old man" eating nuts in the evening.
Knee deep in nutritional websites.................

If he likes nuts and wants to "munch" whilst watching TV, then that is the bottom line.

Omega this, vitamins that..............for Pete's sake.......he is just munching bloody nuts.
So he eats, cashews, mixed fruit and walnuts?
Question Author
Very interesting lnk alina. Many thanks, he will read this later when he comes in from doing some gardening.
You might get smacked in the nuts if you carry on quad :0)
