thanks all
Since the tuber's origins is the area near Lake Titicaca (no sniggering) on the high plains and mountain slopes of Peru and Bolivia, there are those horticulturists that insist the first cultivated potato was purplish in color… the white ones being descendants...
whaddya mean, no sniggering?? and seasons greetings Clanad

natural for several varieties bednobs, and they don't change the water colour here

....and they make excellent dry fry chips.
the Humber is pre-coloured that's why.

Purple is a natural colour, there are also black, red and orange. All Clanad needs is a 'Central Market' to experience those....
can you get purple potato seed? I could try them in my allotment.
