Bought a tub of prawns in sauce in Sainsburys yesterday. Just tasted them last night and along with many a tub I have bought for years - they taste like rubber bands in a sauce. No taste to them at all.

Anybody recommend nice prawns. Thanks.

I actually like Young's frozen prawns (I don't usually like Young's) but I find them the tastiest.
buy prawns from the market on friday/saturday and make you own sauce
although to be honest prawns don't actually have a lot of taste that why you mainly eat them with some sort of sauce.

thanks ummm for your answer and I think you have hit on the nail FGT re there is no taste from them - I am perhaps looking for something that is obviously not there.
For some reason the prawns/shrimp you get in many other countries are so much better than here. I buy the frozen raw jumbo ones from Sainsury`s (think they come from some sort of muddy river in Vietnam though) then cook them (saute etc) as I want.
I agree with ummmm...the Young's are pretty good. So are Aldis frozen prawns. I prefer fresh water prawns over the jumbo, farmed ones.
conn. mix your prawns with a bit of smoked salmon, taste much nicer /
I mix them with cold, grilled salmon fillet...and homemade mayo.
