How To Clean Cuttlefish Bones To Stop Them Smelling.

Hello all.

Just returned from holiday where my two daughters picked up some cuttlefish bones to take to school for a 'Show and Tell'.

Please can anyone tell me how to clean them so they don't smell so strong?

you probably need to let the gas out by maybe cutting into it?

They smell noticeably, they must be cleaned, rinsed, strung and finally hung in the sun to dry for many days.

Do you mean the white cuttlefish like you often see in budgies cages? we used to pick them up off the beach when we were children and take them home, rinse them then give to mum to put in the cage for our bird, but it never used to smell?
