Would you believe there is now a trend in teenage girls(most girls anyway) to save all their daily calorie allowance and use it all up on alcohol, in order to lose weight, but not give up their drinking. They are official now labelled alcorexis.

Jesus, how stupid is that!

I lose weight when I stop drinking. Alcohol is chic full of calories.

Do you mean that there's a way of obtaining calories other than through alcohol?

;-)

Weight drops off me when I stop drinking.

It's incredibly stupid...
Triggs - it wouldn't surprise me one little bit...
I don't save all my calorie allowance but when I've lost weight in the past I've always made sure that I either had done enough exercise or not indulged in any other treats so that I could have a couple of glasses of wine. I would rather have wine than cake or chocolate or some other fatty food.

On the whole I'd rather have the fatty food AND the wine. But some form of balance is not a bad thing.

But like I said, I didn't save ALL my calories for drinking.

it doesn't surprise me at all.
Do you have any facts to back this up?
i can believe it!

It was on TV on the local news.

I mean these girls would maybe use 50-100 calories on a couple of cup-a-soups in the day, and then go and get lashed on the evening, and if you think about it, if their stomachs are empty then it wouldnt take much to get them p*ssed would it!
Well as a parent to teenagers this doesn't surprise me.

Do you have girls ummm or just boys?
It's partly the problem with using targets/measured "goals" for stuff like this. The suggested 2000cal for a woman is a good rough guide, but not if you take it as an "allowance" which you should "spend".

The intention is good, but things like this and 5-a-day can easily distorted in the application.

Have you got a link to the news story?
Someone mentioned this on breakfast TV yesterday. It's why the government guidelines are now based around daily units of alcohol rather than weekly. It is a worrying trend.

Will try and find a link. But it is very worrying.
I have one daughter who'll be 21 in April :-(

Luckily she's not much of a drinker.
