Waaagh! 'printer Cartridge Not Compatible'.

Any suggestions that will convince my Kodak 5000 aio that the nice new cartridge from Cartridge world is A Good Thing? It is fine with the colour cartridge of same make.
So far I have repeatedly removed, switched off, waited, switched on, replaced - no luck.

Mosaic...you may have a problem here. Kodak is as good as dead in the water ... effectively bankrupt. So cartridges are going to be increasingly more difficult to find. Ebay should be your first place to try.

Another option would be to re-fill your existing Kodak cartridge. There should be a local business that can oblige. That way your printer shouldn't object.

Its important to note that PC World is currently displaying huge quantities of Kodak printers, with no apparent warning about Kodak's imminent demise.

Stick to HP perhaps ?

It's the inbuilt obsolescence that irritates me.
This printer has a good scanner built in so I'll hold on to it for that - I have an epson printer running alongside which knocks out readable prints.
I think I'll have a moan at Cartridge World as well.

When my printer tells me that there is a problem with cartridge I remove the cartridge and then try cleaning the electrical contacts on both the cartridge and the printer with methylated spirits using a small artists brush. Grease from the fingers can make the contacts inefficient.
It invariably works.

The one good thing Mosaic, is that if you do need to get a new printer, they haven't been as cheap as they now, EVER.

eg....Try Tesco for a HP printer. They have all-in-ones for a lot less than £100. My first HP all-in-one, in 1998 cost me £500+, and it weighed a ton.

I don't work for HP by the way. Its just that I have always found them to be reliable. More importantly, cartridges are easily available, especially on ebay, and non-HP ones don't seem to present any problems.

Thanks again Mikey - it's interesting to learn about the printer prices. Doubt if I'll be reinvesting just for the moment though.
Btw went to Staples to see if the little thingy could be printed - £3 to stick a usb in their computer! No wonder the branch is shutting down.
