Is there an alternative I can use?

I'm looking at a recipe I fancy for tonight's dinner but am reluctant to buy a whole bottle just for 2 tbsp.

I've tried searching to see if they sell it in miniatures but no luck so far.

Could you go to a local pub and buy a measure?

I think the only thing close to Pernod/Pastis is Absinthe!

Bloody good idea. My Uncle owns a pub. Thanks Sandy :-)

I was going to suggest Sambuca, but it appears problem solved!
What a good idea Sandy! I often have recipes that want just a tiny amount of a specific alcohol.

I've purchased the pernod. I did get an odd look when I gave her a little container to put it in :-)
FGS ummmm, you didn't give her a specimen bottle did you?
I know this is F&D but hands up who doesn't want to get the containers mixed up between the kitchen and the docs?

(so sorry Ummm x)

Lol...no. Just a little storage box. Pernod does look like wee as well...
Lol - sounds fab but as I don't like fish I will take your word for it ummmm. Hope it's yummm, ummmm!!
It's Mr BM's birthday tomorrow and so he had his "special" birthday tea party tonight. I WANTED to do lobster thermidor (his favourite) but I couldn't find a lobster in the whole of the city. Hence I went for Ummmm's recipe instead. He absolutely loved it. The nage sauce is restaurant quality.

Brilliant recipe and I would really recommend it.
You could settle for the poor man's pastis - dissolve two aniseed balls in a glass of cheap vodka.

I made my left over sauce into 'seafood pasta'...yum yum yum. I added the left over salmon and some cockles and watched the kids scoff it like they'd never been fed.

Plautus - I'll try that, just for the sake of it.....x
