...just that guys. I made a really nice soup at the weekend, having it for lunch at work. I put onion, carrot, potato, chicken (all the fresh chicken stock from the roast), water salt and papper, and some parsley and some dried sage but I feel it's just lacking "Something", and not quite sure what, it still tastes real bland. Any suggestions? Don't want to make it spicy, just a little more flavoursome. Using herbs? Or additional vegetable etc?

worcestershire sauce?

Thanks Boxy but don't think that'd go....
Few drops of soy sauce, or balsamic vinegar, or tabasco, or WS as boxy says

Honestly not sure that would taste right, was trying more to emphasise the "stock" taste, but don't want to make it more salty, it tastes a little too watery I think...?
I always add a parsnip or some pureed pumpkin/squash at this time of year. Any of these add a very slight sweet richness to a soup.

Alternatively I'm a great fan of Knorr Herb Infusion - they are delicious in soups and stews.
Boil the stock down to concentrate it or try those 'Stock Pots' from the well known chef whose name I can't remember.....
I usually put stilton or mature cheddar in my veg soups but I'm not sure it would be right with the chicken. I like the Worcestershire sauce idea though
Or if you want to boost that you have already made, simply add a Chicken Oxo cube, or liquid.
Apart from all the good suggestions above, this is my next quest to try and track down locally...adds that certain boost of flavour.

have you liquidised it?
And then if you don't have one, get one of these, they are fanstastic for getting the best out of the vegetables.

They double up as sieves as well.
Bit of a cheat, I know - but a can of Campbell's condensed chicken soup added, would do the job.
I use umami paste, but wouldn't use it in chicken soup.
add a stock cube or stock pot to it - salt also helps
Marigold bouillon powder is good. Though maybe not in a chicken and potato soup.
Dried sage.
