An old friend makes exceptionally good cakes and preserves and would like to sell them at local farmers markets Are there any permits nygine checks.etc she needs to make.

yes she'll have to contact her local authority and they will send her the forms

Thankyou both, this is the sort of advice she needs.
I remember the WI being up in arms about them having to have Hygiene checks. Quite a few ladies who made jams chutneys etc decided it wasn't worth he hassle, after selling their stuff for years without any problems.
I believe one of the rules is, any home-made cakes etc, like commercial ones, have to be marked whether they contain nuts or other allergic contents.
my pal's daughter is doing well selling jams & cakes at local farmers markets from local produce e.g.dorset raspberry jam etc but believe me its hard work.
