Why are McFlurry spoons hollow, with a hole in them? You can't suck the ice cream up through it, as you would a straw. Also, what's the 'hook' thing at the end of the spoon used used for? Thanks!

I find them quite sharp on the edges too!
They are made to fit into the 'McFlurry Machine' - the thing that they are supposed to use to mix all the icecream and toppings together, the spoon fits into the mechanism and whizzes around to stir everything up. I say 'supposed' because all the McDonalds I've been to just seem to plonk the toppings on top of the icecream now and don't bother to mix them - what a cop out!
yeah i noticed they just dump the topping and expect you to do their work, when this happens I now send it back requesting they finish off doing what they're paid to do! Whatever's happened to presentation!
I thought of you today Wispy, as I munched my post-exam Smarties McFlurry.  I also found it darn hard to get all the ice cream off the spoon with out unattractive licking going on.  Least ratbag solved the mystery!  :-)
