I want to buy a gun - please advise ....

I plan to put up (properly this time) netting on my windows so that I can open them to let air in without a cat getting out. I am 2 and 3 floors up and I am not too sure if a cat would survive the fall.

I want to buy a small staple gun to do this - last time I used a combination of duct tape and drawing pins and it kept falling down.

I want to buy a cheap gun but one that is going to survive my attempt at DIY.

Can anyone give me some idea of what to look for in a gun - I went into Amazon and there were tons of them and they all looked the same so picking one was impossible.

owdhammer - nice price.

howard - wood - that's why I thought about a staple gun. I am not very good at this sort of stuff. :-)
Can you not buy a window screen, there's loads on ebay.

I'll have a look craft - as long as the fitting instructions are idiot proof. I thought of stapling Frankie to the wall instead and this would solve the problem.
I've just bought a fly screen for a door on ebay today............but I must admit my mate's husband is coming round to fix it up for me.

My initial reaction to the heading in Latest Posts was "Don't!"
I still think so -cats have an amazing ability to clamber over the most unpromising surfaces, and rarely fall. So, unless the cat has a problem that would affect sight or balance, don't.

Jack - I have two cats. Frankie is no problem but his sister is another matter.

Princess Merlin was at the vet the other week - the vet described her as a couple of sandwiches short of a picnic. Merlin is neither agile nor co-ordinated and on top of that she is vicious. She is my problem.
OK, go with joko's advice, and make sure it has a good safety catch so that it can't be fired accidentally.
Craft. Can you point me in the right direction. I got a couple of those packs where you get netting and sticky stuff and ended up throwing a wobbly and chucking them out. All I want is something ready made that is easy to fix.
mum used rigid mesh sheets she screwed small metal hooks into the frame fixing it in place . The good thing is to remove the mesh you just have to turn the heads round and the mesh just lifts out the way.
BIG JACK. You haven't met my cat, Alice, She manages to fall off everything. I think she might be hyperactive and have Attention deficit disorder as well!!!
When I saw the title, I thought you were out to buy a 12 bore, 8 bore or even a semi-automatic machine gun.....

DT - that would be for my brother, I was thinking of some sort of phaser!

As my brother said you get stupid humans so why not stupid cats.

I will have a look for one after lunch.
Craft - help I can only find the mesh things with sticky stuff to attach the mesh to. Other than than I can find really expensive ones. Can you point me to anything that is ready made i.e. frame and netting in one piece that you can slot in place.
