and runs....woooooosh....... i'm out of here
I don't think the title forms a mental image of an age to me as such. I became a Gran first at age 50 - sweetly he could not say 'Grandma' so 'Mamya' was born LOL
One of my SIL's became 'nana' at the tender age of 43. The thought of her with a perm and floral skirt just make me lol.
I shall be 65 next month and am not a Grandma. Both my grandmothers were quite trendy people a was my mother even back in the 50's. But come to think of it the word Grandma makes me think of little old ladies with hair in a white bun sitting knitting whilst the word Nan makes me think of much younger trendy grandmothers. Nanny is such a horrible word. I called my grandmothers Nanny!! I never want to be called by any of the grandmother words!!!
Right Fluffy, I'll get you!!! I swear I will. There were no answers when I started my answr. Just you wait.........................................

Actually I could tolerate Mamya. If it ever happens (unlikely) I shall think of something different.

Half of me is excited and half is horrified!! I'm just not old enough in my head.
I think Grandma sounds older than Nan.
i was 37 when i became a nana ... no blooming perm and floral skirt here!
I had a Grandma and a Granny.
My son has a Nana and a Nanny
I am a Nana.
You will now have to start knitting Smowball and wearing nice sensible cardies and wear pearl necklaces.
Smow, there are worse things than babies. When is the wee one due to arrive so we can get our knitting needles out and give Fluffy a chance to get over the smacking from Lottie ?
Nana sounds really sweet, but they say that up North?
Woooo, congrats Smowball. Isn't your son like 10 though!

(just kidding, I'm hopefully assuming you have an older child)
Granma makes me think of nice silver haired shawled ladies in a rocking chair.

Nanny makes me think of stern upright, hair up in a bun type.

Granny makes me think of my own granny, nice homely plump lady who immediately swallows you up on seeing you and smacks you with kisses, squeezing you to death.

At the age of 60 now and my son being 32 this year and still not yet settled down I wonder if Im going to any of these. I hope so. I cant wait to have grandchildren of my own. My sister who is a year older than me was a granny at 38 !! She still a glamorous granma. Lovely and slim and hair always well groomed and has only just retired from full time employment
