I was watching Rick Stein last night and he was in Mississippi where they were deep frying chicken rolled in flour and various secret ingredients.

I'd like to experiment with the secret ingredients but my question is; how long would you need to deep-fry chicken for?

thanks all will experiment chicken pieces. Yes, I really enjoyed the programme McFluff. I spent a few days driving across the state and didnt really get a chance to immerse all the culture.

They looked amazing! and that pulled pork that was smoked for 20 hours.

In Alabama I stopped off at a rib shack called 'Dreamland'. Not sure if its still there as Tuscaloosa received bad hurricane damage last year. All they sold were ribs coated in a sticky bbq glaze with a big stack of white bread - no knifes or forks, no salad, fries or anything. They were smoked outback and were the best ribs I've ever tasted.
This isn't a bad recipe, haven't cooked it but have eaten it. http://www.deliciousm...uthern-fried-chicken-

When I've made southern fried chicken,I've always oven fried it.....like roasting really, but with the seasoned flour.

Some traditional Southern recipes will use butter for oven fried chicken.
