How much shoulder of pork for 10 people?

I want to slow roast a boneless shoulder of pork for 10 people. Can someone tell me how much pork shoulder I would need to buy from the butchers please?

I suppose the butcher would know. I'll ask him and I hope he won't oversell to me! I was just trying to estimate how much it would cost me for 10.
if your butcher is any good, they will know

Done this loads of times, it never fails.
If your pork joint is smaller than the one in the recipe just reduce the time, I often do one only about 7lb for about 10 hours and it's fine.
Oh just one last thought, I get my joints from Tesco.

Puss, that's the exact recipe that I'm thinking of cooking! The thing is, in her book it says 9.5kg of pork but it doesn't say how much it feeds! That sounds like a lot of pork to me!
Good recipe......just add some chipotle pepper if you can with the chilis for some extra zing and, if you have it, a light coating of maple syrup for the last fifteen minutes......
I would say that for 10 people you will need a biggish piece coz it does shrink a lot when cooked. I would buy one weighing about 10-12lb (in old money). When it's cooked it is very very tender and difficult to slice so ends up mostly in lumps unless you let it go cool. If there is any left which I doubt it, it is delicious cold the nest day.

Thanks, Puss. I also work in old money so lbs is perfect for me! I have family coming over on Wednesday and I'm not used to cooking for so many! My friend recommended the Nigella pork recipe and she said it's so easy to do and very tasty. I guess she's right as you recommended the same recipe! LOL!
I hope your Wednesday get together is a great success, if you do this pork then you can't go wrong. What are you having with it? The pork has a high fat content which will cook off so making any juices not good for gravy, I found that making a good sage and onion stuffing and a cauliflower cheese with plenty cheese sauce, fresh green beans and new potatoes was ideal, makes it easy and fool proof. Good luck with it.
