It works!
I was in the Co op earlier. At the self check out tills were piles of hot x buns and jammy donuts (4 for £1). I succumbed and bought a pack of donuts.
Himself doesn’t like them, which I knew, and they need to be eaten whilst very fresh..so I did, I ate all 4 today!
I’d like to say I feel sick or ashamed but I really don’t :)

Girl after my own heart.
I hope you enjoyed it.
I used to do it, regularly. Had to stop due to expansion...
Oh I'm so jealous, I love Co-Op jam doughnuts, they are among the best but I have gone as far as complaining at my local Co-op as so many times they don't have jam ones, just a shelf full of chocolate ones and especially the totally disgusting custard ones.
Doughnuts should be filled with jam and covered with sugar not icing sugar, 100s &1000s, pink icing or anything else for that matter.
Custard in doughnuts ? How awful. It's got to be jam IMHO.
My mother used to make them and cover with caster sugar ... y-u-m-m-y. Btw Vagus - how were the jacket potatoes?
I know I'm odd. I only like custard donuts...not as head-achingly sweet as jam.
I had Krispy kreme donuts for the first time over Christmas...yuck! Horrible things!
Course it works - that's why the supermarkets used to put the chocolate bars at the tills until the government said 'no!'.
M&S knew what they were doing when they put Percy Pig at the checkout.

So I’m not alone in my jammy donut addiction it seems :)
With you there, Prudie, gotta be jam or I’m not buying them. They also had the custard ones by the till, never tried them and doubt I ever will.
Oh yes Haz, the sugar gets all over your lips and fingers, yum. The jacket potato with coronation chicken filling was absolutely delicious, definitely one to add to my list whenever we have leftover chicken, so thanks everso for the suggestion, never would have thought of it x
Barry, I actually watched a young lady take a pack of Pepsi to the till, start to pay, then notice the said baked goods. She bought a pack of hot x buns, two packs of jammy donuts and one of custard ones. These shops know what they’re doing ;)
It's a science. My local Co-Op doesn't have an in store bakery but the air in and around is heavily scented with the smell of baking bread.

I used to enjoy their apple pies, sold in a paper bag possibly with French or France printed on it. Lovely pastry
Tesco donuts haven't got any sugar on them at all. I had one last week but didn't finish it. Twas horrible. Yeuk!
My local Sainsbury's has shifted all the sugary stuff, along with other unhealthy snacks, to the back of the store. (It's weird that the vegan stuff is there too)
The bakery has always been at the back...I guess that's where the packs of donuts are also, or along the far side wall.
Whereas at the Tesco metro, all the junk and grab and go food is along the first aisle.
